Norfolk Storm Will Help Host 2011 Women’s Nationals!

December, 21, 2010

Virginia Beach, VA

The City of Virginia Beach Sports Marketing Unit is proud to
announce that the USA Rugby Women’s Premier League, Division 1
and Division 2 Championship Tournaments will be held at the
Princess Anne Sports Complex. The event will be played on Friday,
November 11 and Sunday, November 13, 2011. Virginia Beach Sports
Marketing will be partnering with the Norfolk Storm, Norfolk
Blues, and the Old Dominion University Women’s Rugby Football
Clubs to produce the event. Volunteer opportunities are
available. Please contact Matt Robinette (see contact information
below) if you or your club are interested in volunteering. The
City is expecting to host 20 teams.

Virginia Beach is centrally located in the Mid-Atlantic Region of
the United States. Virginia Beach is within one day’s drive to
2/3 of the population of the country. Norfolk International
Airport (ORF) services the entire Hampton Roads region with over
200 flights daily and coverage from most popular commercial
airlines including Delta, Southwest, and United. There are over
11,000 hotel rooms in Virginia Beach. Many hotels have options of
the Ocean view or city views. We are currently in the process of
contracting host hotels for this event. We will ensure that
oceanfront rooms, economy rooms, and city view rooms will be on
the block.

Princess Anne Athletic Complex has hosted a MARFU 7s Qualifier
and received great reviews from the players and coaches involved.
The facility has Bermuda Grass on all fields and is expertly
maintained by the City of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation.
There is ample, free parking at the facility. Concessions are on
site as well as permanent structure restrooms. The fields are
between eight and 10 miles from any of the hotel properties that
will be in the block. The fields are all regulation in width and
length.

The City of Virginia Beach and the local rugby clubs are excited
for the opportunity to host this great championship tournament.
Our goal is to provide the best experience on and off the field
for all the guests coming to the city. We look forward to showing
off our city and providing gold standard customer service to all
of the ruggers coming to town. Please contact Matthew Robinette,
mrobinet@vbgov.com or at 757-618-3839, if you have any questions.
Very Respectfully,

Matt Robinette
